Simone de Beauvoir

Les belles Images (Beautiful Images)

Category: Fiction | Published: 1966 | Review Added: 23-02-2013

Rating: 3 - Worth reading

(Qualifier: Ages since I read this.)

A book about a woman working in an advertising agency in the 1960s, who comes to question her choice of career and why she lacks the enthusiasm for superficial things that she finds in her colleagues.

I can't remember much about this novel, but it offered a fairly interesting insight into the advertising world in the 1960s, as well as being a semi-philosophical critique of the rising consumerist culture in general. There was nothing spectacularly brilliant about it, but nothing spectacularly bad either.
